From Horizontal to Vertical, Rear Axle shaft forging line new method,
Servomotor driven Screw Press fully automated line released 06.2009

Vertical type Servomotor driven screw press fully automated line for the production of Rear Axle shaft has been released. (Picture is 1250t Hydraulic driven Screw Press) Rear Axle shaft is one of the components for light and heavy truck rear shaft to connecting to the rear tire.
Mechanical horizontal upsetter machine has been in use to forge Rear Axle shaft up to this moment. But material length is very long such as over 1 meter and 4 to 5 steps transfer action Die to Die is require to forge it, so that former mechanical machine cost is high and material handling was difficult and high cost.
Also, Die must be split type so that vertical fin is coming out to the forged items surface.
There was another problems on the Mechanical Upsetter, Hight Die cost, long Die change period,high cost of maintenance, etc.
New system is composed by: (1)Partial heat induction heater 1no.(2)Pre-form upset material making Servoscrew Vertical upsetter 150 to 600ton 1 or 2 nos.(3)Finish upset use Servomotor driven Screw press 1250 to 1600ton 1 no. (PAT) or Hydraulic driven Screw Press 1250ton 1no.(4)CNC material handling Robot 3 to 4 nos.
This new concept deleted the demerit which Mechanical horizontal upsetter is having and production cost can be reduced.Maintenance is very small since by the servomotor driven system.
Light truck called Pick Up Truck is mainly produced in Thailand in Asian region and Enomoto Screw Press fully automated line is already functioning some numbers in proper successful.
Japan domestic facility to make Rear Axle shaft is exhisting some by the Mechanical upsetter machine but most of them is aged now. Our new line is correct and ideal answer to change old line. Hydraulic driven Screw press is static type machine and 1250ton machine is already in work. Construction machine rear axle maximum Dia. 400mm can forge by this machine.
Other Shaft Upsetter machine besides Axle shaft, Servomotor Vertical upsetter machine is recently much installed and increased to install. Low machine price, Low Die cost, easy automation and less maintenance etc. many advantage is in this machine. It is the most ideal machine to replace for Mechanical upsetter.

Servo 300ton Full auto Brass Cored Forging Press has been released 06.2008
|
Cored Forging Fully automated unit by 300 ton Servomotor driven Screw press with cored sub-press, Loader, Unloader and heater released to the market. The unit has been in operation at one of the Japanese user factory.
Cored Press is usually using at Brass hot forging. During the process of forging, horizontal holes are processed by horizontal punch. Raw material volume can be drastically reduced.
As well, since there is hole already, after machining process can be reduced. Totally production cost will be very much down and many of forging company is giving attention for this unit.
Cored sub-press with Die cushion is independent unit and it will be installed on to the machine bed. It causes foundation pit less.
Servomotor driven screw press is maintenance less as well this cored unit is also easier to the maintenance.
In the past some decade, many overseas unit was installed in Japan but due to the high maintenance cost, many of the user is thinking to replace them to this new servo screw press unit.@ |

Recent order has been becoming to ask mostly (approx. 90% ) servomotor driven type in Japan.
Export is also getting higher percentage to offer servomotor driven type since this model has great performance superiority.

NEW MAGNESIUM ALLOY PRODUCTION RESEARCH BY ENOMOTO SCREW PRESS

We have developed Automatic control system of Screw press machineÓ to fabricate high-performance magnesium alloys with fine microstructures by the cyclical repeated plastic working (RPW) process, in the Japan government project for the technology transfer of the university seeds to industries, financially supported from 2002 to 2004. As a current result of this project, 3000kN Screw press machine has been already installed in the manufacturing plant of one of the above project members. He started to produce high-strengthened magnesium alloys specimens such as pipes, bars and plates via RPW process by using our press machine.

Professor Dr. K.Kondoh, RCAST (Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology), The University of Tokyo, had established the cyclical repeated plastic working (RPW) process, illustrated in Fig.1. In this process, two upper punch ?and ?are alternatively fed into the die set in the screw press machine with a high speed. The role of the punches is to consolidate the input raw materials (magnesium alloy coarse powder) to fabricate the green compact, and to progress the plastic deformation of the compact by the backward extrusion, respectively. In particular, the backward extrusion causes the refinement and mixing of the raw materials. That is, the RPW process by using the high-speed screw press is suitable to produce high-strengthened magnesium alloys. For example, as shown in Fig.2, the grain size of the AZ31 magnesium alloy via the RPW process (N=50) is 3`5ƒÊm (b) by using 1000kN screw press (Fig.3 MOVIE) <Windows=77.7MB>installed in RCAST, The University of Tokyo. It is remarkably small, compared to that of AZ31 input raw powder with 100`150ƒÊm (a). It is also clarified that the tensile strength by employing the RPW process is significantly improved. The RPW process is also called ÒRice CakeÓ process.
The technology transfer project of the RPW process was started in 2002, to produce the advanced magnesium components in the industries, which was financially supported by METI, the Japan Government office for 3 years. The role of Enomoto machine in this project is to establish the automatic control system of the large-scaled screw press machine for the microstructure controls by RPW process.
We had already installed 3000kN Screw press machine for the RPW process, shown in Fig.4, in the manufacturing plant of Toyo Seiki Co., who is one of the above project members. They started to produce high-strengthened magnesium alloys specimens such as pipes, bars and plates via RPW process by using our press machine. Fig.5(a) indicates the AZ31 magnesium alloy green compact, having a diameter of 80mm and a length of 60mm, via the RPW process with 200 cycles. Fig.5(b) shows an example of the hot extruded AZ31 alloy specimens by employing the RPWed green compact. It reveals high strength with 350`400MPa of UTS.
At the current state, the two research developments for technology issues are going; the 5000kN large-scaled screw press machine for RPW process and the application to the other university cooperation in foreign countries.
Fig.6 shows the appearance of 5000kN screw press equipment (a), having the automatic control system for RPW process. It serves the larger green compact with 145mm in a diameter (3kg). As the business strategy in foreign countries, we must develop the screw press machines for the plastic working of light metals such as magnesium and aluminum alloys, and import them to the material working companies, because automotive industries strongly require the light-weight components. First of all, we installed 1000kN screw press (Fig.7) as a research equipment at Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn university in Thailand this January 2003 under the collaboration partnership. They have been also developing the high strength light alloys by the RPW process and other hot workings such as forging or extrusion. Of course, our screw press machine is also useful for the research and development of the conventional hot working processes.

ENGINE VALVE AUTOMATIC EXTRUSION PRODUCTON LINE

Regarding engine production, there is "Electric upsetting method" and "Billet extrusion method". The latter is new method and superior.
This unit is designed fully automated from material check, electric induction heating,
die lubrication, and hot extrusion/upsetting in Screw Press machine.
Control cabinet is also centralized to one section.
Production work size is 40mm for top diameter. Out put cycle is 3 to 2.7 second per one
material for normal operation but final target is 2.5 second.
Base press machine is High-speed Double screw type friction screw press 2000kN, model 200YFB. The operation speed is so quick, expensive mechanical press machine
In no more required for this kind fully automated line.
Capacity ranges from 2000kN to 5000kN. 1 st set is exported out from Japan.
